She always really loved this part of the job description. Lurking around in a bar to see what pirates might come her way in the hopes that one might be searching for a new crewmember or something. That was how she always started... and besides that - bars meant drinks, and god knew she needed something to unwind a little. Stress had been getting to Tempe lately, and obviously, it had been interrupting her sleep. The dark circles under her eyes were only a small reminder of that, but her constant aching head and tendency to stare off into space at times was becoming an issue now. Damn her dedication to her job - she was going to work herself to death.
"But this is worth it," she reminded herself. Tempest didn't have any second thoughts about her job. She hated pirates - with a passion. But deep down, the root of all her malice was only from herself. How could she have been so foolish? Trusting one of them like that? David had been a pirate after all... and that's what they were good at, lying, stealing, pillaging - god, if she hadn't been so determined to keep living and take out her revenge on these assholes then she'd be a pile of bones laying on what should have been her fortune.
Slow night, she thought, letting out a little sigh of boredom. As much as she hated pirates, anything was better than just sitting around. Usually they'd at least bring a little trouble with them when they stopped by, but absolutely nothing of interest seemed to be going on. Nothing -- did they just all have infinite people in their crews now? Tempe had never had a problem locating a desperate pirate searching for a few extra deckmates. Would today be her first failure?
She growled audibly at the thought: no. She wouldn't let that happen. If no was looking for new crewmembers, she'd just waltz up to the next captain she saw and demand a spot on their ship. Yes, that would do. But who? She took another swig of the drink she had, scrunching her nose at its foul taste - gross - pirates had no taste in good alcohol. They just wasted themselves on rum and cheap beer. There were much better brands out there, you'd think that they'd at least try 'em.
I ain't payin' for this shit," she snapped at the bartender. "Get me something better, aye?"

Harley roared happily, thrusting his sword in the air. His men all did the same, crying out in joy as they ran from the ship. The way they ran for their drinks was the exact same as the way they ran for their treasures... Harley grinned and situated his cuffs, looking at Benelli on his shoulder, who was clearly ruffled and annoyed from all the yelling and moving of his arms. The Nocturne captain snorted at Lee, giving him a snide look. "What, unhappy 'cause you can't drink, mate?" he purred, moving in close to Lee's face to taunt the Murkrow. He forgot about his beak, however, which promptly pecked at his face and made Harley back off. "Ow! Hey, you annoying featherbrain, keep yer beak to yourself." He continued to grumble a little as he followed his men calmly to the bar, his coat flying out from behind. He entered and inhaled deeply, sighing happily and moving towards the bar stand. Lee squawked impatiently. He hated the bar, he had nothing to do there. He was a fucking crow, he couldn't drink like the others... maybe this time Harley would turn his back and he would be able to drink his share... With a devious glint, Lee grew unusually quiet. "... why are you so stiff? I don't trust ya when you're stiff, Lee." His eyes narrowed at the Murkrow; he had to be plotting something... sighing, he turned to the bartender, giving him a nod and a wink. "You look nervous, mate..." he crooned to him, a soft leer on his face. "Crews stop in 'ere all the time, what, got an Ekans in your trousers~?" He laughed then, letting Benelli hop up onto his shoulder and squawk. But then, a voice rang out, and a shrill one at that. Harley turned to the source of the bartender's obvious nerves, smirking at the woman. "You're in a brewery with pirates... can't be too picky with yer alcohol, aye?" Lee hopped down from Harley's shoulder and looked over at the girl, puffing out his feathers slightly. Harley gave her a good natured grin and tipped the brim of his feathery hat to her. "At least this shit's doing its job." Winking once more, he turned back to the bartender. "Two!" The nervous man walked back toward the drinks and began to fix two glasses as Harley turned back to her. She'd expected the bartender to get annoyed, but she wasn't just some easily pleased "pirate" if one could really call her that anymore. He'd get a piece of her mind one way or another. With a sneer at the bartender, she almost considered pulling a pistol on the poor sap, but quickly decided against it when another voice rang out behind her. Tempe looked up over her shoulder, eyebrows raised. Finally, someone of interest, she thought. As far as pirates went, Tempest figured he didn't look all that bad - at least he didn't seem traditional in the least. Regardless though, she knew her job well. He was still a pirate, and for that reason, he was on her hit-list, and for that reason... she could only be so nice.
"Aye, I suppose so, but this pirate doesn't just take anything. I won't settle for anything but the best," she responded, turning back the drink in front of her. With a hiss of disdain at the horrid tasting drink, she figured one swift gulp of the stuff would do the trick. With a secure grip on the mug, she lifted it to her lips and drowned it, letting some of the booze run down her face. If that wasn't enough to convince the man beside her she was a "pirate" she didn't know what would. Slamming the glass back down on the table, she brought an arm up to her face and wiped her lips clean.
"Two!" he called, causing Tempest to take a glance back up at the pirate in question. now that was slightly weird. what pirate acted gentlemanly? there had to be another motive. "Now, what's a fine young lass like you doin' out in a place like this?"
Tempest snorted in response, "Like I said, I'm a pirate. This is as much my bar as any of these other drunkards, aye?" she paused though, wondering if she should add she was looking for a crew to join just yet -- perhaps not. She needed to know more about this guy first, about his crew. Whoever the captain was probably wasn't as interesting anyway. They never were....
